Blue Raider Women’s Tennis returns to Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After an eight-month hiatus from official games, Middle Tennessee women’s tennis returns to action in Fort Myers, Florida on Saturday, January 15 at 12:00 PM against Florida Atlantic and Monday, January 17 against Georgia State at 8:00 AM

The Blue Raiders will serve the start of the season on the Florida Gulf Coast University campus, where they will face Conference USA and FAU in their season opener. Two days later, the team takes on Georgia State to complete the tournament before heading back home.

Middle Tennessee is coming off a successful fall season. The Blue Raiders competed in five preseason events, including two at home. MT also traveled to Indiana, Louisville, and Stetson, finishing their fall break on Nov. 7.

head coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall begins her fourth season at the helm of Blue Raider women’s tennis. She enters the 2022 spring season with an overall record of 33-30 (.523) as the head coach at Middle Tennessee.

Duvall returns seven members from last year’s squad, including seniors Lee Barnard and Zani Barnard each entering their fifth season with the Blue Raiders. Other returning members include…

sophomore: Liliana Danajlovsky and Lilly-Sophie Schmidt

freshman Eloise Swarbrick is the only newcomer to this year’s team. She heads to Murfreesboro from Hawkesdale, Australia, where she competed on the Victorian State Tennis Team and won her first tournament title in Warrnambool.

Match One: Middle Tennessee (0-0, 0-0 C-USA) vs. Florida Atlantic (0-0, 0-0 C-USA)

Match 2: Middle Tennessee (0-0, 0-0 C-USA) vs. Georgia State (0-0, 0-0 Sun Belt)
– Saturday, January 17 – 8 a.m. CT
– FGCU Tennis Center
– Fort Myers, Florida.

All time vs. FAU
– Saturday’s game will be the ninth meeting between the two programs, the series is all tied at 4-4. MT is 2-0 when facing the Owls on neutral courts.

All time vs. Georgia State
– Monday’s game will be the seventh meeting between the Blue Raiders and Georgia State, MT leading 5-1 over the Panthers.
