Flowing from an old movie set to the ocean, to a smoky dance hall or an arid desert, LUZIA cleverly brings to the stage multiple places, sights and sounds of Mexico, borrowing from both tradition and modernity. Rich in awe-inspiring moments, LUZIA mesmerizes by incorporating rain into acrobatic and artistic scenes – a first for a Cirque du Soleil tour production. With enchanting and refreshing acrobatic performances, LUZIA takes traditional and contemporary circus disciplines to a whole new level. Cyr Wheel performers perform the unprecedented feat of rolling and spinning under the rain, while an aerialist hanging from a trapeze flies and twirls through pouring showers. Hoop Diving is put on giant treadmills, exponentially increasing the speed and number of daring jumps. Stunning highlights include a male contortionist who skillfully rotates his body in the world’s most unimaginable positions, a powerful Aerial Straps specialist who defies the laws of gravity in the middle of a cenote (natural sinkhole), a juggler who uses seven pins throws at breakneck speed, and two football freestylers deftly mixing street dance with stunning ball manipulation.
