MEN’S SWIMMING AND DIVING TEAM BEATS NAZARETH, WOMEN FALL ON GOLD FLYERS

Rochester, NY – Freshman Red Shirt Ryan McMahon (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) won three events to lead the Le Moyne College men’s swim and dive team to a 138-93 win over Nazareth College on Friday night at Shults Center. The Golden Flyers defeated the women’s team 126-111.

McMahon was victorious in the 200 freestyle by almost two seconds with a time of 2:04.22. He set a time of 4:24.39 and won the 400 freestyle with 0.34 seconds. He recorded his third victory of the day in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:10.23 to 0.65 seconds.

The quartet of freshmen Dominic Fratto (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo), junior Charles Morris (East Aurora, NY / East Aurora) and seniors Brandon Bardin (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) and Alex Turczyn (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) won the meet opening 200 medley relay with a time of 1:50.08.

Junior Joseph Malone (Merrick, NY/Wellington C. Mepham/SUNY Old Westbury) captured the 800 freestyle by over 12 seconds with a time of 9:07.73.

Morris won the 50 freestyle by just under a second with a time of 23.79 seconds. He added a win in the 100 freestyle with a time of 54.53 seconds to win by almost two seconds.

freshman Justin Byrne (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) won both diving events. He won the one meter diving competition with 278.17 points and conquered the three meter with 261.45 points.

Bardin claimed the 100 butterfly by a second and a half by touching the wall in 1:02.05.

Fratto took the 100 backstroke victory by 0.38 seconds with a time of 1:02.07.

On the women’s side, freshmen Hannah Kellogg (Cazenovia, NY/Chittenango) recorded a time of 9:46.53 to win the 800 freestyle by over 16 seconds for Le Moyne’s first win of the evening.

Junior Caitlyn Longway (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) claimed the 200 freestyle by less than half a second by hitting the wall in 2:16.85. She later won the 100 freestyle by over two seconds with a time of 1:01.55.

Junior Madison Zapisek (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) won the 200 IM by just nine hundredths of a second with a time of 2:39.22. She also took first in the 400 freestyle by almost five seconds in a time of 4:52.38.

Freshman’s Red Shirt Grace Thomas (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) triumphed in the 100 backstroke by three and a half seconds with a time of 1:08.65.

Senior Mikael Ann Melfi (Clayton, NY/Thousand Islands) won the 100 breaststroke by a quarter of a second with a time of 1:18.87.

The Dolphins will conclude the regular season at home against SUNY Cortland on Saturday, January 22 at 1:00 PM
