Looking for a fun outdoor social distancing activity to do this summer? Croquet might just be the solution you’re looking for!
The Buffalo Croquet Club is accept a limited number of new teams for The Buffalo Croquet League Thursday Nights in Delaware Park for 12 Weeks, Beginning May 13e until July 29e.
Croquet can best be described as a sport that combines shot-making in billiards with strategy in chess, but played on the lawn. Since you won’t break any sweat while playing, it is very conducive to having a refreshment or snack while playing, making for a very relaxed, enjoyable yet competitive evening.
There are only 10 slots available for teams of 2 players (plus team member alternates for travel/vacation schedules) to enter the competition. The entry fee is $100 per team and teams are accepted on a first come, first served basis. A waiting list will be made for registrations where the registration fee has not been received before May 10the.
The club provides all the necessary equipment and instruction so players who are interested but completely new to the game are encouraged to sign up. The first week will be an educational week to familiarize players with the equipment, rules and formalities of the game, with the competition starting the following week, culminating in the play-offs in July.
The croquet courts are floodlit and play starts at 7pm and 8.30pm each week and continues into the evening with each game lasting approximately 1.5 hours making it a great option to get outside and beat the heat this summer .
