Famous track feat Roush Mustang takes on the likes of the Jeep Trackhawk in a drag race. It’s unusual to see such different rides vying for first place. Still, the Drag Racing and Car Stuff YouTube channel covers it, and it’s definitely one to watch.
Is it fair competition?
No matter which transmission a customer chooses for a Roush Mustang, it delivers incredible performance. The numbers stand at 750 max horsepower and 670 lb-ft of torque, which can also deliver a blistering 0-60 mph time of 3.6 seconds. With these immense numbers to contend with, it’s a good question to ask whether the Jeep Trackhawk still stands a fair chance.
The Jeep Trackhawk is equipped with a track-performing 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine, capable of a 0 to 60 mph time of 3.5 seconds, which is not far behind the Roush Mustang. Max power is significantly less, especially when it comes to drag racing, with a peak horsepower of 707.
The Roush Mustang gets off to a flying start
Once the drag race begins, the Roush Mustang jumps off to a flying start. The front wheels lift off the ground before smacking back down and going full throttle. This leaves the Jeep Trackhawk behind for quite some time. However, the two cars manage to get close to a tie before the Roush Mustang crosses the quarter-mile finish line first.
The Roush Mustang takes over for first place after crossing the quarter mile in 10.30 seconds with a top speed of 136.3 mph. Meanwhile, the Jeep Trackhawk is a great competitor, especially since its performance figures don’t match the Mustang. Nevertheless, he crossed the finish line slightly behind the Roush Mustang with a time of 10.79 seconds and a top speed of 125.37 mph. Therefore, it doesn’t quite match the Roush Mustang’s performance, but it gives it a good shot.
In summary, the Jeep Trackhawk is doing pretty well for first place. Nevertheless, the Roush Mustang would definitely beat it with more horsepower and faster acceleration. It made for a great race and the wheels flying off the ground on the Roush Mustang should definitely set the Trackhawk’s heart racing.
