Munster Rugby | Dave Kilcoyne in line to join 200 Club

If selected, Dave Kilcoyne will become the 12e Munster player to join the 200 club against Wasps at Thomond Park on Sunday afternoon.

A graduate of Greencore Munster Rugby Academy, Kilcoyne has scored 21 tries in 199 appearances for Munster and has also earned 45 Ireland caps.

Kilcoyne turned 33 last month and has started this campaign in eight of Munster’s 10 games so far.

He is the second most capped player in the current squad behind Stephen Archer (236).

‘Killer’, a UL bohemian clubman and former student of Ardscoil Rís, made his debut against Connacht in 2011 in a squad in Munster that also included current team-mates Keith Earls and Simon Zebo in John Hayes’ last appearance for the county.

He won the British & Irish Cup with Munster A in 2012 before establishing himself as a fixture in the first team in 2012/13, making his Champions Cup debut against Racing Metro at the Stade de France in October 2012

After a debut season in which Kilcoyne appeared four times in 2011/12, he made a staggering 152 appearances over the following six years, averaging more than 25 appearances per season.

Kilcoyne made his debut in Ireland against South Africa in the November 2012 series and appeared in his first 6 Nations in 2013, finishing his season with a tour of North America.

The Limerick prop made the most appearances in 2013/14, playing in 30 of Munster’s 31 games and earning a place in the 2013/14 PRO12 Dream Team.

Earned further caps for Ireland during the summer tour to Argentina in June 2014 and November Series victories over South Africa and Georgia, scoring his first try for Ireland in the game against Georgia.

He again made the most appearances for Munster during the 2016/17 season, playing his part in 31 games and starting 21.

Killer was featured in all three Tests of Ireland’s Summer Tour to the US and Japan in 2017, scoring his 20e Munster will make his 150th appearance for the county against the Southern Kings in April 2018.

In an outstanding 2018/19 season, Kilcoyne made 23 appearances in Munster and earned a Guinness PRO14 Dream Team nomination.

Featured in all five Six Nations matches of 2019 and played in all of Ireland’s matches during the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.

Included in Ireland’s Rugby World Cup roster that traveled to Japan in 2019 and played in all five matches.

Featured for Ireland in the 2021 6 Nations and the Vodafone Summer Series and has already made eight Munster appearances this season.

Kilcoyne hopes to continue making appearances after signing a three-year contract extension in March 2020 that will keep him at Munster until at least June 2023.
