Australian Ashes hero Travis Head was the top mover in the MRF Tires ICC Test Player Rankings after his Man of the Series winning performance against England in the summer.

Head looted an Ashes top 357 run averaging 59.50 with a strike rate of 86.02, including two centuries, half a century and a high of 152.

The South Australian managed all of this in just four Tests after being rubbed out of the competition in Sydney due to a positive Covid-19 test.

But his outstanding return from the Australian summer saw him move up seven places to be number 5 in the ICC Test batting list alongside Rohit Sharma.

Head secured his place on the Australian test team with a blistering century in the series opener in Brisbane with just 85 balls, the third three-digit score in Ashes history.

Head also scored the three fastest half-centuries of the series, including a quick 51 in the second innings at his home turf in Adelaide, as Australia hunted for an explanation.

However, it was his amazing 101 in Adelaide that had some of the biggest names in Ashes history including Shane Warne, Mark Waugh and Michael Vaughan who called Head’s knock one of the best innings they’d ever seen.

Head now has 1,510 test runs at 43.14 and a stroke rate of 55.16, including four centuries and eight half-centuries and a high score of 161.

And with his place on the side now secure, those numbers could skyrocket in the coming years, as could his place in the ICC Test rankings.

Other notable players on the batting list included New Zealander Tom Latham, who broke into the top 10 after his double century against Bangladesh in Christchurch.
