At a game built for future graduates, Fort Dodge head coach Nick Vinson packed his varsity boy-packed full of seniors.
Six seniors filled the Dodger lineup for Senior Night and they didn’t disappoint by bowling one of their top three scores of the season.
The Dodgers (7-3 overall) defeated Dowling 2,862 to 2,311. The girls remained undefeated this year, beating the Maroons 2,633 to 1,779.
In the boys, Jace Ulrich led the way with a 411. Grady Dodge rolled a 409. Tyler Crimmins also crossed the 400 plateau and threw a 404 series. He had the highest game of the day with a 246.
Christian Miller (386), Carson Kahler (313) and Alex Dohrn (305) followed for the Dodgers.
“They all did well”, said Vinson. “Carson had strikes in seven of his 10 bakers’ balls and threw well in singles.
“It was nice to honor them all and have a full senior lineup.”
As seniors on the girls side, Alexis Kenney and Lexi Hanson as freshmen have been part of three state tournaments and teams and one state championship game.
“It’s very important to try (Kenney and Hanson) to get to the state for the fourth time in a row,” Vinson said. “Those two have done a great job for us. Lexi has been in the Top-10 twice (by standing) and Alexis once.
“It was nice to watch them bowl, get to know them and build a relationship with them. They are steadfast for us.”
Now the three seniors of the Dodger squad, along with classmate Ashleigh Starnes, hope to continue the streak.
Keeping warm in the lanes, Kenney rolls a 429 series on Thursday. Hanson booked a 368 series.
AJ Feathers turned in the other 400 for the Dodgers.
Aryssa Lumsden (370), Hailey Folsom (298) and Starnes (275) followed.
The junior varsity boys lost 2,005 to 1,813. Aidan Porter had a 324 series and Landon Meyer had a 289.
The junior varsity girls won 1,669 to 1,396. Gabby Flores had a 290 series while Michaela Napier (215) and Samantha Anderson (213) were next.
Porter and Aiden Heistand are also seniors for the Dodger boys.
The Dodgers will return to action on Tuesday when they host a Baker’s Only tournament at Family Bowling Center. Teams in action with the Dodgers are MMCRU, Emmetsburg and Pocahontas Area.
