PHILADELPHIA – For the second consecutive weekend, La Salle will be swimming and diving in Kirk Pool as they host A-10 rival Fordham for a double match on Saturday 22nd January at 11am

The meeting will be senior day for the Explorers as the program honors their nine-member senior class of Phoebe Shaya, Samara Cheifetz, Kaelyn Dougherty, Brooks Hauge, Kaitlyn Smykowski, Zachary Wolbert, Steven Stasolla, and Sara Rizzetto. The encounter is also La Salle’s Gold Rush dual, where the first 50 students receive a free shirt.

  • The La Salle women’s team competed in a thrilling tri-meeting last Saturday, beating Fairfield 209-90 while falling just short of reigning A-10 champ Richmond, 138-157.
  • Two Explorers took multiple individual wins on Saturday, led by Rizzetto’s ninth and 10the campaign victories in the 200-yard free and the 200-yard back.
  • sophomore Sam Boyes took first place in both the 100-yard and 200-yard butterflies, earning her La Salle’s Novacare Student-Athlete of the Week honors.
  • Anne Moser added her fourth win of the season on the 1000-yard free.
  • Shaya continued her standout season with another run of diving events, her seventh and eighth win of 2021-22.
  • The men, who battled Fairfield, dropped a tight 147-153 decision at the Stags.
  • The Explorers took first place in both relays, as Wolbert, alex kuriawa, Trenton Burr, and Zack Miller combined for a few wins.
  • Wolbert and Burr each added two individual wins for La Salle, as Wolbert paced the field in the 200-yard fly and 200-yard IM while Burr placed first in the 100-yard back and 200-yard back.
  • Jason Rosales and Zack Miller also took solo wins, winning the 100-yard chest and 100-yard free, respectively.
  • Sam Henninger took first place in the three-meter dive with a score of 273.37.

EXPLORE THE RAMS:

  • The meeting with Fordham will mark the second time this season that La Salle and the Rams have shared the pool, as they both participated in the Bucknell Invite November 19-21.
  • Fordham’s women’s team has a perfect 4-0 record in doubles, with victories over Manhattan, Marist, Monmouth and Georgetown.
  • The men have a double score of 2-2, with their most recent appearance in a 199-94 loss against Georgetown.
  • Neither side took part in the 2021 A-10 Championships as the two programs opted out.
