3 Boston Millie: Nice setup here goes in and showed speed last – prize game.
6 Pineapple Alley: Will be the one approaching the speed picks – need a clean trip.
3 Downtown connector: Should really appreciate the extra distance and training.
1 gun fighter: This one is well meaning today from the brief refresh for Asmussen.
3 Pioneer of Medina: Dispatch for HOF trainer Todd Pletcher – well meaning today.
5 Underhill’s Tab: Has really done everything right so far – could easily win this one.
1/1A Win Worthy Evie’s Prince: One of the Sharp trainees should be good.
3 Takafumi: Throw in the last of the turf race and it fits right here.
Like off grass – 14-7
9 Fenwick: This one works extremely well – will be a prize for the horse that ran well first.
1 lucky guy: Like the angle from synthetic to dirt – sometimes the horse jumps on dirt the first time.
12 Warrior Johnny: Ran better than first looked – mail is a concern but price will be right.
5 Co-Conspirator: Big Brown’s first timer – not much to really beat here so could be the one.
If off grass – 2-3
4 Nonviolence: Another first timer burning in the morning – ready to roll.
8 Mercy Warren: First of all for keen trainers and top owners – another who means well first.
6 Frosted Grace: Going 2nd out for Amoss – working well – could go to the turf here at a high cost.
5 Just Might: Just a great horse – loves to win and keeps winning here at the Fair Grounds.
Like off grass – 6-1
3 Vinco: Connections love to win first – horse costs $1.5 million purchase – should be ready.
11 I am your captain: Momma loved this job – was a quality sprinter – also trainer sharp.
8 Janelle Monae: A Group 1 winner in Brazil last spring – has quality – the distance may be too short.
1 Abscond: Pulls well – has faced tough opponents, but worked well to get back to the grass.
Like off grass – 9-4
5 a Crete: It will take a lot of catches if she flew to a long lead first – looks solid here.
4 Sweet as pie: Another one of the Pletcher horses entered today – is a threat to the top pick.
2 Halo Again: Horse is in shape – won this job – and can be a nice prize against this one.
6 Two Emmys: A neat horse – loves this job – will be released from discharge, but must be ready to fire.
As off grass – 4-5

3 daddy cap: Last few runs with the big boys – tough race here but should win.
4 Trafalgar: The “local” horse has quality needs to step up today, but upset at a price.
Around the track
Note selections made for dirt with OUT grass selections. A great map put together by the Race Secretary and the Fair Grounds staff. Numerous out-of-town shippers combined with our own horses make for a very good competitive card. The return of Mandaloun and the preview for fillies and colts on the Derby track mark the day. In Race 12, we see Two Emmys make its debut in 2021 after putting together a triumphant summer run, including beating the Arlington Million. Let’s hope the races stay on grass today and good luck.
Our best guess Saturday will be in Race 10 – No 8 Janelle Monae – trainer is adept with these international buys and this one ticks all the boxes. Since we have a card of 14 races, we will throw a lagniappe game in race 5 – No. 9 Fenwick. Something tells me this one is going to win for a big prize today.
Good luck and may they all come home safe.
