‘You’re supposed to be a legend’: Floyd Mayweather criticized for watering down boxing

Exhibition/celebrity fights have changed the boxing room forever. A few years ago, no one expected this trend to become a revolution. Not only that, but many boxing icons and retired stars stayed in sync with exhibition fights. In that list, the GOAT Floyd Mayweather tops the list for obvious reasons.

Mayweather retired from pro boxing in 2017 and keeps herself active with exhibition fights. And last year he ended up with the YouTuber turned boxer, Logan Paul.

Citing that, Gary Russell Jr. recently went after ‘TBE’ for his performance in this fight.

Speaking to Brian Custer, he added: “I was just pissed that Floyd made the fight look damn competitive. He’s not a fighter. You’re supposed to be a legend in boxing, that’s true.”

“You are old. You know I get that, you know. And you’ve never been a knockout puncher type. But hit his a**. You know I say, please make it clear he doesn’t belong here.”

Mayweather was expected to beat Logan Paul in just two or three rounds of the fight. However, Paul proved to be a competitive opponent for the ‘Pretty Boy’. Also, ‘The Maverick’s lanky physique proved a turning point in the fight as Mayweather struggled to reach his chin.

All in all, the fight went surprisingly well, with Logan Paul ending with a commendable draw in the fight. With that, Mayweather received a huge backlash from fans and purists of the sport.
