Patrick Mahomes II is one of the highest paid NFL players of all time, making his career for the Kansas City Chiefs on the field.
He led the team to Super Bowl LIV success in 2020 and also took the MVP award in the 20-31 win over the San Francisco 49ers.
But things could have been different for Mahomes had he not chosen to go to the football field.

Mahomes’ ties to baseball come from his father, Pat Mahomes – who was a pitcher for such teams as the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs.
Born in 1995, Mahomes Jr. started playing football, baseball and basketball in high school.
He attended Whitehouse High School in his native Texas.
Patrick Mahomes got so good at baseball that several scouts attended his games to take charge of the teen.

Patrick Mahomes was predicted to be one of the first picks in the MLB draw when eligible.
Mahomes advances to MLB draft
In 2014, Patrick Mahomes attended the baseball game, although he was not expected to be selected for the MLB due to his football commitments.
The Detroit Tigers picked him up in the 37th round of the draft, although Mahomes did not sign a deal with them.
He had already promised his future to Texas Tech to play college football.
In the 2017 NFL draft, Mahomes was selected 10th overall by the Chiefs, originally as Alex Smith’s backup QB.
Smith was moved in 2018, allowing Mahomes to take over the starting QB slot.
