Ohio State Named Top 5 Football Facilities by All-Americans

In the arms race that is big college football recruiting, everything matters. Relationship building, historical winning pedigree, and atmosphere all play a part in why a kid might choose Ohio State or some other good “old state U.”

One of the things that also raise eyebrows at potential pledges is the facilities of a program. Shiny new toys, expansiveness, appearance and advanced treatment rooms are some of the things that continuously improve that players will benefit from being a part of the program.

At OSU, the facilities are top notch, as you’d expect with a barber shop, pop-a-shot basketball, pool tables, a beautiful weight room, waterfall wall, and more.

But how do recruits feel about the facilities in Columbus compared to other programs out there? Pretty good, it seems — at least according to an anonymous survey conducted by 247Sports at the All-American Bowl. All told, 88 players responded, each voting for the best. When the votes were tabulated, Ohio State came in at the top five.

Here’s a breakdown of each school that made the cut and how they ranked with facilities according to the survey. It’s worth noting that there was a five-way tie for eighth place and that’s where we’re going to start.

Scott Draper, Michigan’s assistant director of athletics, says the school’s new indoor soccer facility is the tallest of its kind in the country. Draper gave a tour Monday of the 104,000-square-foot building that is as high as 25 feet high from synthetic turf to the nearest obstruction as the Wolverines went through their first training session on adjacent fields outside.
