BETHLEHEM, Dad. – the no. 1 Colgate Raiders were crowned the 2021 Patriot League Volleyball Champions after defeating No. 4 American, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, NY

The Raiders earned their sixth Patriot League title and first since the 2012 season.

Colgate senior setter Julia Kurowski was awarded Tournament MVP honors as she finished the match with 42 assists and 12 digs.

Junior defensive specialist Cami Carfino posted 13 digs, and junior middle blocker Sophie Thompson recorded four blocks on the day to join Kurowski on the Patriot League Volleyball All-Tournament Team.

American senior middle blocker Carlie Fikse (.238 hitting percentage) and junior outside hitter Zeynep Uzen (12 kills, 10 dis) were selected to represent the Eagles on the all-tournament squad.

Lafayette middle blocker Madi Wahrmund (11 kills) and Navy senior outside hitter Avery Stowell (16 kills, 11 digs) rounded out the seven-member all-tournament squad.

Colgate earned the Patriot League automatic qualifying bid to the 2021 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Championship. They will learn their first-round opponent when the NCAA Selection Show reveals the field on Sunday, Nov. 28, at 8:30 pm ET on ESPNU.

HAMILTON, N.Y. – no. 1 Colgate claimed the 2021 Patriot League Volleyball Championship with a 3-1 victory over No. 4 American on Sunday afternoon.
* Colgate took sets one (25-21), three (25-19) and four (25-20), while American won set two (25-19).
* Senior setter Julia Kurowski led all players with 42 assists to go with 12 digs for her 10th double-double of the season.
* Sophomore outside hitter Libby Overmyer led the Raiders in kills with 16, followed by graduate student outside hitter Alli Lowe with 15. Lowe added 13 digs for her sixth double-double this year.
* With 1,602 career kills, Lowe takes the fourth spot in the League’s record book in career kills.
* Junior defensive specialist Cami Carfino totaled 13 digs, five assists and two aces.
* Junior middle blocker Sophie Thompson paced the team with four total blocks (one solo, three assists).
* Sophomore outside hitter Katie Putney paced the Eagles in kills (13) to go with four block assists. Junior outside hitter Zeynep Uzen finished the match with 12 kills, 10 digs and one bock assist.
*Freshman setter Esma Sipahi tallied 30 assists and eight digs.
* Graduate student libero Chiara Bosetti (17), junior setter Inbal Peleg (12) and junior libero Rachael Bennett (10) finished with double-digit digs totals.
