The Illinois State swimming & diving team sent their four seniors off with a win, topping the UNI Panthers, 193-160, at the final home meet of the season on January 14-15. The Redbirds opened the two-day dual by breaking a 20-year-old Horton Pool record in 400-yard medley relay. The relay team of Cassidy Carey, Madyson Morse, Lauren Naeger and Emma Feltzer combined for a time of 3:50.91, shattering the previous 2002 record set by swimmers from the University of Illinois by nearly four seconds. On the boards, freshman Eva Reyes picked up her fifth and sixth victories of the season and defended her home pool, remaining undefeated at the Horton Pool.

Following their home dual with UNI, the Redbirds swept the Missouri Valley Conference weekly awards with sophomore Diana Walker earning Swimmer of the Week honors and Reyes earning Diver of the Week recognition. The honor was Walker’s first career conference weekly award and the fourth for Reyes, who is only a freshman.

Indiana State is coming off of a pair of team victories last weekend over IUPUI and Butler at the IUPUI Tri-Meet on Friday before falling to SIU the next day. The duo of Emily Webb and Chloe Farro will look to continue their winning streaks in the pool in their respective events this weekend against the Redbirds. Webb has not lost in the 200-yard freestyle event since December 4, 2021, winning four consecutive races, while Farro has picked up wins in three of her last four races in both the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyles.
