Albany Poolhall may go from cue to Pans & Wisks

A pool hall that has been a staple of Central Ave in Albany since 1963 may soon be closed. The owner of Golden Cue Billiards Lounge & Sports Pub hopes to sell his building to a new trendy concept popping up in several cities across the US.

What will Golden Cue be?

Plans have been submitted to Albany that would take the 5,700-square-foot billiard floor and split it into 16 small kitchens known as haunted kitchens according to the Albany Business Review.

They would be used as prep kitchens for several restaurants to do takeout orders only. There would be no seating for customers, just prep areas and orders to go. They would be used to house small local vendors or start-up kitchens that don’t have enough space or the resources to run a full restaurant.

How is the space used?

The floor will be split and the lobby and reception will be used to store dry goods needed for the haunted kitchens. Also, there would be only 2 employees to handle takeout orders and a maximum of 18 chefs would work in the kitchens. There are only 17 parking spaces available in total with 10 at the back and only 7 at the front.

What about the pool hall?

In the early stages of the pandemic, the Golden Cue had to close, but they are now open again and have nightly competitions. The owner declined to comment on the building’s sale until it went to the planning board, which will be Feb. 1. If you would like to join a league or get more information about them, click HERE.
