19/2/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sunshine Coast

A strong nine race program has been assembled for the Sunshine Coast on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:07) Tab Stradbroke Season Hcp 1000m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

The Ryan/Alexiou camp don’t come to Queensland for a trip away. They come here to win so with that, I am with 2 PsychiatristBet Now: $SP.00), who hasn’t raced since his debut, which came in the Breeders Plate. He was wide throughout and tired late to finish down the track behind Sejardan. There are two thoughts with him. One, he’s trialled up super and stable want to get prizemoney to try and get up the Slipper order of entry. Or, it’s a throw at the stumps and if he’s no good, Kacy Fogden will take over as trainer. I am hoping it’s the former.

Danger

3 Spanish AngelsBet Now: $SP.00) is a hard fit/in form juvenile for Les Ross that comes to town off the back of a spank job of her rivals at Ipswich where she lapped up the mud surface and was a mile too good. This is a pretty thin 2YO race and stable should be respected with their juveniles when they’re in form.

Long Shot

1 Whistling SpiritBet Now: $SP.00) will put himself on speed and look to give his all. That’s what he did last start at this track/distance and the end result was an all the way win, albeit in pretty slow time, so that’s the knock, but gate one, he’ll lead and give cheek. Last bit may test.

Race 2. (13:42) Brc Girls Day Out 12/3 (c3) 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

It’s a case of surely with 5 PalladasBet Now: $SP.00† He surely will win a race soon. It should have been at Doomben two weeks ago but pilot error from Jim Byrne cost the horse the win in what was a horrendous watch for those that were on. He’s knocking on the door and he gets another great chance.

Danger

3 Wilmot PassBet Now: $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Team Freedman in Melbourne, he now finds himself with Kacy Fogden. Hasn’t raced since January 8 when down the track at Caulfield behind a quality horse, In The Boat. To me, this race it’s either Palladas or entirely different form. He is the best of the entirely different form.

Long Shot

6 Bella RoyaleBet Now: $SP.00) deserves a shot at Saturday metro level for Brenton Andrew. This mare has won her past two, both coming at Ipswich, both wins aided by a peach steers from Billie Rose Andrew. Good test for the mare here, but there is a question mark on a few of these whereas she is hard fit and in form.

Race 3. (14:17) Southern Pacific Sands (bm85) 2200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

I keep getting sucked into 1 HakyBet Now: $SP.00), thinking he’s on track, and now he’s hard fit, as well as getting to a more suitable trip, it’s last chance territory. Wasn’t suited last Saturday by the stop/start set up, plus he was four weeks between runs and stepping up to 2000m from the mile. Now up to 2200m, the booking of Ryan Maloney is key, but the bigger key is Blinkers first time. I think he’s here to rock and roll.

Danger

2 traditionBet Now: $SP.00) is the one with upside here and I think can be dangerous. He was 1600m to 2200m two weeks back at Doomben and I thought his effort was more than sound behind Sayl. He has that 2200m run under the belt now, so I think he can be an improver at odds.

Long Shot

7 TakeittothelimitBet Now: $SP.00) is a first four threat. I was with him at odds last start at Doomben and he seemed to have his chance behind Sayl but was far from disgraced in finishing a close up fourth. He is a track/distance winner and while I doubt he wins, he can fill a minor spot.

Race 4. (14:53) Global Turf Hcp 1600m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

2 Mishani UntamedBet Now: $SP.00) looks like he will eat up the mile here for Les Ross. He ran over 1350m two weeks ago at Doomben where he was tailed off last early, struggling to keep up, but he balanced up in the straight and savaged the line late when third to Merimee. Off that, 1600m on the bigger track here looks ideal.

Danger

1 Military GamblerBet Now: $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Chris Munce since racing at this track/distance. It took forever to wind into his work but got going late to run a close up second to Drive A Deel. He seems to race well with that mini break between runs so he commands respect.

Long Shot

8 Red WaveBet Now: $SP.00) is proven at the mile so I think he can be an improver at odds. Just looked in need of the run fresh over 1200m before stepping up to 1350m and was okay without setting the world on fire behind Merimee. The rise to 1600m will suit him and his best is good enough.

Race 5. (15:33) Fulton Hogan Hcp (c6) 1600m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

1 Star Of MichelinBet Now: $SP.00) might want one more but I think he’s in for a really good prep. Resumed in the Sunny Coast Cup and I thought he was a real eye catcher from the back behind Scallopini in a great return. Unbeaten third up, might want one more, but the resumption was too good to ignore.

Danger

3 TamilaideBet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and hopefully he can hold it. Market wanted to take a set against him last Saturday at Doomben but nobody told the horse that. Thompson made sure he was within range on the turn and once he was, it was race over and he was too good. He can measure up here for sure.

Long Shot

8 Texas StormBet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Lawrie Mayfield-Smith after racing last Saturday at Doomben where he was close up and did make ground late in a solid effort behind Group Think, finishing sixth, beaten under a length. Bigger track should suit and form around him, as a whole, reads okay.

Race 6. (16:13) Martin Collins Australia-bm90 1400m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

Good test here for 4 Dream reacherBet Now: $SP.00) with a rise in depth but he looks capable. Peach steer from Jaden Lloyd saw him two weeks ago at Doomben, slicing his way through the field and driving hard to win impressively. More depth here, and drawn tricky, but is in form and well in at the weights.

Danger

1 Ef TroopBet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form for Tony Gollan. Question is can he now hold it. Market wanted him late a fortnight back at Doomben and under a confident ride from Ben Thompson, he surged hard late and was too good, just, for Roman Aureus. Hard to beat if he can hold that.

Long Shot

3 Never No MoreBet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. Ran in the Dreamreacher race from two weeks back and was good late from off the speed, finishing fifth behind the Heinrich horse. Not sure he turns the tables, but runs well all the same.

Race 7. (16:53) Polytrack Hcp 1000m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

7 Buying TimeBet Now: $SP.00) looks to have his share of talent for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. Unbeaten in two career outs, both coming here. Bit of class/quality about his last start win and with these up and coming horses from this stable, more often than not they measure up when rising in grade/depth.

Danger

1 Blackjack BoomBet Now: $SP.00) is a progressive three year old for Team Edmonds that continued his good record with a strong win fresh over this track/distance three weeks ago, just getting the verdict over Legal Esprit, who has since run and failed, but still, I think the form is okay and he’s another that is a 1000m specialist.

Long Shot

2 RubiquitosBet Now: $SP.00) saves his best for 1000m so I think he deserves another chance. Strong on speed win two back when beating Self Indulgent. He then went here three weeks ago when on speed but was quickly beaten off and had to be marked down as disappointing. He can bounce back.

Race 8. (17:32) Fiber track (bm72) 1000m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

13 Nicci TrixBet Now: $SP.00) is a pretty sharp mare for Lauren Abbott that resumes. This mare was formerly with Jenny Graham at Port Macquarie but was sent to Abbott towards the end of last prep and the results were good. She’s a sharp short course mare so resuming at 1000m I like and she’ll look the winner for a long way.

Danger

14 Air SpiritBet Now: $SP.00) doesn’t want the rain to hit too hard. I was keen on her running well last time out at Doomben thinking some juice in the track from gate one would be okay but she failed to fire a shot and was quite plain. The run prior behind Tooroooloo was a beauty and off that, she’d just about win this.

Long Shot

16 CossieBet Now: $SP.00) should be suited back to 1000m for John Wallace. She’s been up a while but continues to race at a really good level, which was the case two weeks ago at Doomben where she led at a solid clip over 1110m but that trip at that level just sees her out and she was no match late for Rich Lister. Back to 1000m I like and she’ll give a stack of cheek.

Race 9. (18:12) Leaders Equine Surfaces-rs1mw 1200m

* Above offers may only be available to select customers.

Back Me

10 Ventura OceanBet Now: $SP.00) for me in the get out. Kris Lees trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since October 30 at Rosehill when far from disgraced in defeat behind the then in form Dynamic Impact after getting a fair way back in the run. He can sprint well fresh and two trials under the belt suggest he’s ready to run a forward race.

Danger

3 Ef TroopBet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form for Tony Gollan. Question is can he now hold it. Market wanted him late a fortnight back at Doomben and under a confident ride from Ben Thompson, he surged hard late and was too good, just, for Roman Aureus. Hard to beat if he can hold that.

Long Shot

2 PenninoBet Now: $SP.00) is she back on track? It had been a long time since she had shown any real positive form but her effort at Doomben a few weeks back behind Kingston’s Here was a beauty from the back, sticking towards the inside and making up good ground. Hopefully that wasn’t a one off.
