‘I am not fighting for recognition, I am fighting for Azaylia and for all of the heroic children battling cancer.

‘In my daughter and her legacy, I have found something worth dying for, so fighting in the ring to raise awareness and funds for a cause embedded in my heart was an easy choice to make.

‘It was important for me to take on this boxing challenge because my daughter fought a heroic battle against cancer on this earth for eight months.

‘So I want to honor those eight months with eight bouts in the ring.

‘I promised that even now I will always be the best daddy I can be, I will honor her incredible time here and I will fight till the day I die for other children and their families who face the monster that is cancer.

‘I am fighting because my daughter had to and for all those children who are still fighting this monster.

Azaylia was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia at eight weeks and had tumors on her lungs, stomach and kidneys.

She was given several rounds of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital but she died in April last year.

Before her death, Ashley and his girlfriend, Azaylia’s mother Safiyya Vorajee, set up a GoFundMe appeal for her to have pioneering treatment in Singapore, currently unavailable in the UK.

Azaylia’s heartbreaking story captured hearts worldwide as well-wishers donated £1.6million and they launched The Azaylia Foundation to help people going through similar situations.

The charity aims to support families that are fundraising for treatments that may not be readily available on the NHS and provide children with memorable experiences as they fight cancer.

Ashley will be donating a percentage of his fee for talking part in the Showstar Boxing event on 5 March to The Azaylia Foundation and is calling on supporters to make donations if they wish.
