Boxer Rick Medina puts undefeated record on the line

San Antonio featherweight Rick Medina (12-0, seven knockouts) hopes to extend his unbeaten streak when he takes on Armando Frausto (9-2-1, five KOs) of La Marque in the eight-round main event of a nine-bout Team Morones Boxing card Saturday night at the Scottish Rite Theatre.

“If (Medina) gets by Frausto, then we’re ready for any and all competition,” said Medina’s manager, Greg Hannely. “The goal is to get a regional title by the end of the year.”

San Antonio heavyweight Tyrrell Anthony Herndon (17-4, 11 KOs) meets Thomas Hawkins (4-10, one KO) of Houston in the six-round co-main event.

Others scheduled to appear include Guillermo Gutierrez, Oge Harwell and two local fighters making their pro debuts – Joshua Moreno and Sylvestre Quinonez.

Tickets are $100 for ringside, $70 lower level and $40 general admission.

Doors open at 6 pm First bell is 7:30 pm

The weigh-in is at 1 pm Friday at the Social Spot, 930 Broadway.

San Antonio Middleweight Eddie Ortiz Jr. (12-1-2, five KOs), fighting for the first time in 16 months, needed just 80 seconds to knock out Michael Sanchez (2-10, two KOs) of Midland on Saturday night at Alzafar Shrine Temple.

Other local winners on the Triple-A Promotions card were Corey Caad, Christian Romero and Luis Alberto Gallegos.

Austin super featherweight Floyd Schofield (9-0, seven KOs) remained undefeated with a first-round knockout of Julio Sanchez (5-6-1, one KO) of Houston headlining a Davies Entertainment card Feb. 26 at Davies Boxing and Fitness Gym.

Jairo Castaneda (13-2, five KOs) or San Antonio beat Adam Ealoms (5-20-3, two KOs) or Bryan by unanimous decision in a six-round, super middleweight bout.

Jeffery Stern (3-0, two KOs) or Universal City defeated Lucas McDonald (0-7) or Bellville in a four-round middleweight bout.
