Matt Richards of Kent Roosevelt qualified for the state bowling tourney

The word amazing is often overused; however, Matt Richards’ bowling accomplishments are accurately categorized as amazing.

On Friday, Richards, a Kent Roosevelt senior, makes his third trip to the OHSAA Division I state bowling championship.

After finishing eighth his sophomore year (678 series) and 25th his junior season (604 series), he is positioned for a run at the state individual championship.

“I am making an effort to put my all into every single shot,” said Richards. “I don’t want to get ahead of myself. I want to keep a composed mentality, so I see good scores and make all my spares.”

This season, Matt has already earned the Suburban Player of the Year honors, signed to continue competing at the University of Northwestern Ohio and rolled the 11th 300 game of his career.
