FORT MYERS, Fla. – After winning three straight last weekend to close out the FAU Beach Burrow Bash, the FGCU beach volleyball team is back in action this weekend as the Eagles head to the College of Charleston Beach Classic on Saturday and Sunday. The Green and Blue will play Coastal Carolina (11:30 AM) and Jacksonville (4:30 PM) on Saturday before then taking on Charleston (9:30 AM) and Eastern Kentucky (11:30 AM) on Sunday.
The Eagles went 3-1 at FAU last weekend to improve to 5-3 on the year. The only loss at the Beach Burrow Bash was against host and 12th-ranked FAU.
Emma Hansen and Kaitlyn Luebbers posted a 4-0 weekend at the FAU Beach Burrow Bash. The pair earned a win over No. 12 FAU in two sets (21-15, 21-19) in the fifth flight to highlight their efforts. They also picked up a two set win at No. 4 over UNCW (21-17, 21-19), won in two sets at No. 4 against Austin Peay (21-15, 21-6), and in two sets at No. 5 against Palm Beach Atlantic (first loss of the season for the Sailfish) 21-8, 21-18. With four wins this year, Hansen has moved into 11th (33 career wins) all-time at FGCU.
Kirstine Garder remains 10th all-time at FGCU in career wins (36) followed by Hansen.
