MANNY PACQUIAO JR will make his amateur debut tonight just a matter of months after his dad’s retirement from boxing.
Following brief training stints with his dad and pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez, Manny Jr sought out the help of his old man’s former head coach Freddie Roach.
And the young Filipino is set to take to the ring in San Diego against Andres Rosales.
Wild Card Gym shared a good luck message for Manny Jr with their 62,000 Instagram followers on Friday.
It read: “Wild Card Boxing Trainer Marvin Somodio completes training with Manny Pacquiao Jr.
“He’s set for his first amateur boxing match [Saturday]†
“Good luck to you and all of Team Pacquiao!”
Manny Jr decided to follow in his dad’s footsteps and try his hand at the sweet science after stints modeling and being a social media influencer.
But his dad wasn’t keen on him carving out a career in the brutal and lonely sport of boxing.
In 2019, the former eight-weight world champion said: “We are really discouraging him [from boxing]

“In our home, we don’t have any gloves or boxing equipment. But we have a basketball court.”
After raking in millions of pounds fighting some of the best boxers of his generation, Pacquiao was disheartened to see his eldest child express an interest in fighting.
He revealed: “It pains me to see him box because I know how hard it is.”
Boxing legend Pacquiao announced his retirement from the sport last September, closing the curtain on a career that spanned over 26 years.
Pacman, 43, hung up his gloves a month after suffering a unanimous decision defeat to WBA welterweight champ Yordenis Ugas.
He told Toni Talks: “My boxing career? “My boxing career is already over.
“It’s done because I’ve been in boxing for a long time and my family says that it is enough.
“I just continued [to box] because I’m passionate about this sport.
“I will just support other boxers for us to have a champion again.”
