S Sreesanth brought down the curtains on his career and announced his retirement from Indian cricket earlier this week. The former India pacer only played one game for Kerala in the ongoing season and called it quits following the culmination of the group stage.

Sreesanth, who made his comeback to Indian cricket in the 2020/21 season, played all three formats for Kerala. In the 2021/22 season, Sreesanth only played one Ranji Trophy fixture before retiring.

The tributes have been pouring in for Sreesanth on social media and many of his former teammates have wished the pacer. Sachin Tendulkar has become the latest cricketer to wish Sreesanth and has congratulated him in his post. Tendulkar was part of the playing XI in Sreesanth’s maiden Test, ODI and T20I.

“Always rated you as a talented bowler with a lot of skills. Congratulations @sreesanthnair36, on representing India over the years. All the very best for your 2nd innings,” the Master Blaster wrote.

They were teammates at the 2011 World Cup, which the Men in Blue won with a win over Sri Lanka in the final. Sreesanth is a two-time World Cup winner and was also part of the 2007 T20 World Cup winning squad.

Sreesanth only played one game in the 2021/22 season before being benched. Following his retirement announcement, Sreesanth hinted at being denied a proper sendoff by Kerala.

“I was looking forward to playing the match against Gujarat in the Ranji Trophy. In the team meeting ahead of the game, I had made it clear that it would be my last match for Kerala. I believe I deserved a farewell match,” he told Manorama.
