Can RJ Cole etch name into UConn men’s basketball point guard lore? ‘You get the biggest stage’

When Andrea Walker and Carmen Velasquez, the mothers of two of the greatest point guards in UConn men’s basketball history, were spotted at the Big East tournament last week and featured on the videoboard, Javicia Cole simply had to join the fun.

Cole, whose son RJ is UConn’s current point guard, got her picture taken with Walker and Velasquez, moms of Kemba Walker and Shabazz Napier, respectively.

The Holy Trinity of UConn moms? Perhaps, at least within the past 15 years.

With UConn beginning play in the NCAA tournament on Thursday in Buffalo, the floor now belongs to RJ Cole to join Kemba and Shabazz in another rare club — UConn point guards simply known by their first names, who led their teams to remarkable postseason runs.
