Patriot League Announces Tennis Players of the Week (3.15.22)

BETHLEHEM, Dad. † Boston University senior Shelly Yaloz earned the Patriot League Women’s Tennis Player of the Week, while Navy sophomore Sasha Panyan was named the men’s tennis player of the week when the League office announced the awards on Tuesday.

BU freshman Adrian Pawlowski, Colgate junior Emme Levenson and senior Nate Romig, and Navy sophomore Stella Ribaudo were placed on the honorable mention list.

Patriot League Men’s Player of the Week
Sasha Panyan, Navy, So., Lutherville, Md.

* Panyan recorded a pair of wins against No. 48 Old Dominion.
* The sophomore and teammate Gavin Segraves tallied a 6-3 win on court one against Luca Maldomer and Yevhen Sirous.
* He also earned a No. 4 singles win over Yevhen in straight sets (6-2, 6-0).

Patriot League Women’s Player of the Week
Shelly Yaloz, Boston University, Sr., Queens, NY/Laurel Springs

* Yaloz went 3-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles action last week as the team went 1-2 against Duquesne (W, 6-1), Florida International (L, 5-2) and Florida Atlantic (L, 5 -2).
* Yaloz earned three straight-set singles wins, including a 7-5, 7-5 win over FIU’s Ines Bekrar, a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Duquesne’s Natasha Novak, and a 6-4, 6-4 win against Florida Atlantic’s Amber McGinnis.
* The senior and teammate Kaitlin Tan recorded No. 2 doubles victories against FIU’s Andreea Velcea and Kristina Miletic (6-3) and Florida Atlantic’s Lexi Silna and Greta Schieroni (6-4).

Honorable Mention
Adrian Pawlowski, Boston University, Fr., Sarasota, Fla./Riverview

*In no. 4 singles, the freshman defeated UC San Diego’s Jeff Cole, 6-2, 6-3. He also earned a 6-1 No. 1 doubles win with teammate Johann Sajonz.

Emme Levenson, Colgate, Jr., Richmond, Va./Douglas S. Freeman

* Levenson won at No. 2 singles against Jane Bockman (7-6, (7-0), 6-3) and No. 2 doubles (6-3) with teammate Rebecca Wolf in the 7-0 win over Marist this past Saturday.

Nate Romig, Colgate, Sr., Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia

* Creamy Tallied a No. 4 singles win (6-1, 6-4) and a No. 2 doubles win with teammate Jack Selati (6-2) in Colgate’s 6-1 victory over Marist.

Stella Ribaudo, Navy, So., Chicago, Ill./British International School of Chicago

* Ribaudo tallied a pair of wins against Temple, including a 6-3 No. 3 doubles victory paired with Emily Tannenbaum. She also secured a point at the No. 6 singles position in a three-set battle (6-4, 3-6, 6-1) over Sena Takebe.
