Horse Racing Tips: Thursday 26th May best bets and most tipped horses

There’s action from six courses on Thursday across the UK and Ireland including an excellent evening card at Sandown featuring the Group 3 Henry II stakes and Brigadier Gerard Stakes. There’s also action on the flat from Yarmouth, Haydock, Ripon and Carlisle whilst Limerick hosts a jump meeting which gets underway at 16:50. We have tips for every race of the day from the UK and Ireland’s best tipsters and we’ve picked out some of the highlights below.

Kicking off at Sandown races we take a look at the Listed National Stakes off at 6:15 PM† There’s an odds on favorite here in the shape of Crispy Cat at 4/7 with Paddy Power. The Irish Raider made all at Cork then nearly bagged a Listed contest at the Curragh last time out and the form from that race has been boosted since. The likes of the Daily Express, Daily Mirror, Daily Record and Racing Post Spotlight have all tipped up the fav here with Mercury of the Daily Post making it their nap of the meeting.

If you’d rather oppose at the prices, four tipsters have picked Maria Branwell here trained by David O’Meara who is available to back at 15/2. She was successful against her own success at Thirsk in her first race and will get a 5lb sex allowance. With Tajalla a non-runner it has reduced the place terms to just two with only seven runners.

the Henry II Stakes is the first of back to back Group 3 contests at the Surrey track at 18:50 and looks a bit more competitive from a punting point of view. Eight runners set to go to post and 5/2 the field with Ian Williams’ Enemy the overnight favourite.

4/1 chance Quickthorn for Hughie Morrison finished just ahead of Enemy in an Group 3 at Ascot when tackling both two miles and good to firm for the first time and seven tipsters give him the nod here, including two naps from Jon Freeman of The i and Matt Polley of the Ipswich Star.

However its the Charlie and Mark Johnston trained Thunderous who gets our pick here. The five year old also has seven tips, but four naps from the Daily Record, Irish Herald, Liverpool Echo and Scottish Sun. The 4/1 chance with William Hill stuck to his task well when second behind Stradivarius at the Yorkshire Cup 13 days ago.

There’s a short price favorite for the Brigadier Stakes at 7:25 PM in the shape of Mostahdaf trained by John and Thady Gosden. The 5/4 chance is one of the most tipped horses of the day on with eight selections including four naps. The four year old has won six out of seven of his races and has a course and distance Group 3 win last time out and could step up into Group 1 company.

Sir Michael Stoute has trained the winner of this race 11 times and three of the last five and he saddles Bay Bridge. The 3/1 chance went four from four as a three year old and has been napped up by the Racing Post’s Newmarket correspondent.

Most tipped horse of the day

The most tipped up horse of the day is Zanbaq for Roger Varian in the 15:40 at Haydock but at odds of 2/9 doesn’t represent much of a betting proposition.

Next of the rank is Paul Midgely’s Birkenhead in the 16:25 at Ripon which has 12 tips on including one nap from Alexh Hammond of Sky Sports Racing. The five year old bolted up at Catterick last Friday and escapes a penalty here and at 5/6 with Bet Victor or even money with SBK looks the pick of the most tipped horses.

Naps Table Leaders

The Naps Table run by Racing Post is still in its infantry for the flat season but current leader Expert Eye from the ‘On The Nose’ publication is already on £37.21 profit for the competition. A lead of over £15 from his nearest rival. they go to Sandown for their selection today in the 17:40 with The Whipmaster at 4/1 with Bet365 paying four places. The four year old was second at Lingfield on the all-weather last time and looks likely to remain competitive up just two pounds for that effort. Trainer Gary Moore has a good record at Sandown and son Ryan Moore is in the plate, another positive.

If you’re punting today good luck!
