Mansfield University baseball’s all-time strikeout leader Hunter DePrimo signed a professional contract to play in the Pioneer Baseball League for the Billings Mustangs.

The Mustangs play their home games in Billings, Montana at Drehler Park.

DePrimo signed his first professional contract with the State College Spikes of the MLB Draft League on June 1. The right-hander did not allow an earned run in 7.2 innings of work with the Spikes, where he struck out nine hitters in four appearances (one Start). DePrimo, who broke the Mountaineer record for strikeouts in a career, was a three-time all-region selection.

• Led by a program-record number of selections from three programs, a group of 82 Lycoming College student-athletes earned a slot on the 2022 MAC Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll to give the athletic department a record number of 168 selections in 2021- 22.

The men’s basketball program blasted by its past high-water mark of five MAC Academic Honor Roll selections by posting eight in spring 2022. The men’s tennis team was a perfect 6 for 6 in honor roll awardees, tying their best mark in program history, and the softball team had a record 12 awardees for a second straight year.

Lycoming’s 168 selections in 2021-22 smashed the record of 154 set in 2016-17.

Three seniors – Jake Booth (men’s swimming), Allison Wagner (women’s basketball) and Emma Lehr (women’s lacrosse) – wrapped up their careers a perfect 4-for-4 in MAC Academic Honor Roll selections, earning the award in 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The academic honor roll is comprised of student-athletes that wrapped up their championship season in the spring and registered a term/semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher.

Men’s basketball had eight selections; men’s swimming had five selections; women’s basketball had 10 selections including Welsboro graduate Cathryn Brought; women’s swimming had five selections including Loyalsock graduate Elisa DiNicola; wrestling had nine selections including Lewisburg graduate Logan Bartlett and Jersey Shore graduate Hunter O’Connor; men’s golf had four selections including Montoursville graduate Ian Plankenhorn; men’s lacrosse had 13 selections; men’s tennis had six selections including Montoursivlle graduate Casey Hass and Wellsboro graduates Luke Leach and Nate Redell;

Softball had 12 selections including Central Mountain graduate Madalyn Bechdel, Williamsport graduate Avery Eiswerth, Jersey Shore graduate Kylie Russell, Central Mountain graduate Morgan Wetzel, and Williamsport graduates Kylie Segraves and Jacqueline Snyder; Women’s lacrosse had given selections; women’s tennis had five selections including Milton graduates Haley Seebold and Hannah Seebold and Montoursville graduate Rei Saar.
